Our Low-Budget Fall Weekend

While we slowly working to fatten our bank account back up, I am trying to keep our spending to a minimum. This fall weekend was all about not spending a cent, and we were somewhat successful. Saturday morning we took the kids to a nearby playground. Anna always has lots of fun there. It has a carousel, but this time, instead of riding the horse, she wanted to ride in the spinning tea cup. Will joined her for the ride and I think she liked that especially. Since my mom gave us the tokens (one of the perks of working for the parks), this outing was completely free.
We usually eat out for Saturday lunch, but I had cooked a big pot of chicken "pho" soup that morning so we went home and had that instead. Then while the kids napped, hubby mowed the lawn and I prepped for dinner. After the kids woke up from their nap, we packed up Pesto and went to another park. It was good to walk Pesto, we don’t do that nearly enough.
After running around all morning, we did order pizza for lunch on Sunday, but Anna ate so well that it was worth it for me. The wings from Pizza Hut? Finger-licking gooood! It’s my new favorite. We wrapped up Sunday with a little trip to Great Falls Park. Again, free thanks to my parents’ senior status.

So there you have it. Our low-budget fall weekend. It's definitely doable to have fun without spending too much.

  1. Sounds like a great weekend, and bonus that it was so economical!

I'm jealous of your fab weather. It is cold, cold, cold here in Toronto!

  2. I think we need to get some sort of swing set in our tiny backyard. Nothing like a little swing to help make your mind drift away. Oh, and the kids would love it too!

  3. Anna's hair is looking gorgeous, by the way. What a pretty view in that last photo.
