The other night,

Sasha's Birthday
I had the most relaxing experience in a long time.

I was invited to a one-year-old birthday party at a steakhouse. (How fancy.)

I brushed the knots out of my hair, put on a clean shirt, and changed out of my pajama pants. I left the baby at home and spent the next two and half glorious hours pigging out and chatting with my friends.

There was a salad bar with all the trimmings and meats were brought to the table and carved in front of us. Top sirloin, ribs, filet mignon, rib eye. Everything was juicy, tender, and scrumptious!

At the end, there were no dishes to wash and a slice of birthday cake – poof! - magically appeared in front of me.

Ahhhh…I was in heaven.

The next day I wrote to my friend, telling her just exactly what a wonderful time I had.

She responded with a laugh, “Having a child really makes one appreciate these things!”

I don’t think any moms would argue with her on that.

(Thanks again Irena and HB to Sasha!)

  1. OUR PLEASURE!! so glad that you came. And a Happy 8 months to Anna, too!

While we are on the subject, I would like to say that the reason we had a 1-yr-old's birthday at a steakhouse is not because we are crazy filthy-rich people (which I know everyone is thinking!) but only because my Mom's birthday was also this week, and we combined the two and invited Grandma's friends. We also celebrated Sasha's christening on the same day. Just so everyone doesn't think we are totally ridiculous:)

  2. @ Irena: Thanks for clarifying! I thought about putting in the details, but really, I just wanted to get to the point. And the point being that it was soooooo nice.

  3. how lovely. sounds like a feast! yum!

  4. blah blah blah...Papa was home with Baby A all snuggled up on his chest and napping away. I even snuck in a few winks. We dreamt up our own fat juicy pieces of steak, hmph!

  5. It's nice to sneak away and have some fun once in a while! And kudos to daddy for doing such a great job in babysitting! :)

  6. Ahh.. so the Hubs had Anna duty...

:) It sounds like you had a great time - so nice to have a change of scenery and a change of dinner company now and then.
