the start of a little library...

When the time comes, I will surely introduce the wonderful world of libraries to Baby A, but I thought it would be nice to have a tiny library of her own as well. So we have been slowly collecting books as we see good deals.

I can't wait to read these books to her!

What's your favorite book from childhood? I remember adoring all Amelia Bedelia books.

  1. Maybe we can get Chinese baby books, then she and I will learn together!

    I don't remember much baby stuff. I don't remember coming to America or moving from the west to the east coast. But I do remember The Cat in the Hat. And I'm sure our baby girl will remember these stories as well.

    For me, after I left the baby stage, my favorite books were Encyclopedia Brown ones. I wonder if there's a girl version of those books? Oh, and I also liked those "choose your own adventure" books where you made choices and flipped to different pages leading to different story paths. Man those kicked ass! Alas, now all I ever read are sales guides and technical white papers...

  2. My favorite book as a child? Tough one. I believe I came out of my mother's womb reading books from the Nancy Drew series!

    Reading the 1st comment brought back many memories. I read Encyclopedia Brown books too! They were truly a joy to read.

    For my own children, I started the basic collection: Dr Seuss and Goodnight Moon, and we kept adding as we went along.

  3. I loved Encylopedia Brown too - and the Hardy Boys (the boy version of Nancy Drew). I remember reading a series of books by Time/Life on US History, and a series by underwater explorer Jacque Costeau.

    I don't remember any books at a really early age - although my mom says I was always reading from an early age.

    I don't think Time/Life still publishes any of their series any more. (link to a listing)

  5. I loved Amelia Bedelia! My little sister and I would read those together. And I'd borrow every Encyclopedia Brown book I could find at the library. I never even read Nancy Drew!

    This is a cute little collection you've already started for her.
