Rewind {On Hawaii}

Exactly one year ago, the hubs and I spent two glorious weeks in Hawaii.

We boarded a cruise ship and sailed to Big Island, Maui, and Kauai.

On Big Island, we visited the Volcanoes National Park. We picked lava rocks, walked inside a cave, and hiked a bit.

The next day, the ship took us to Maui. The Road to Hana was as wonderful as the tour book described. I wish we had more time to explore the stops along the way. Nevertheless, the unexpected flat tire will always be memorable. The drive was adventurous, thrilling, and fun.

We drank coconut juice and had banana bread at a roadside stand.

We also went to a small fishing village and saw whales! :)

On the Kona coast of Big Island, we snorkeled and I saw a sea turtle for the first time. It was an amazing experience.

Kauai was by far our favorite island. The Na Pali Coast was awe-inspiring and so was the Waimea Canyon. Everything was so lush and green. Fantastically and wonderfully undeveloped. We picked fruits from trees.

After the cruise, we spent six days in Oahu. We went to Diamond Head and Hanauma Bay.

We shopped for necklaces. We took the bus all over the place. We sampled local cuisine. We even had mochi ice cream. YUM!

The weather did not hold up for us in Oahu - regardless, we made everything fun and spent our first Christmas together as a married couple.

Ah, Hawaii. Hope to see you again soon.

Note: I decided to start a new category called “rewind". Every once in awhile, when the mood strikes me, I’ll reflect on something I've blogged about in past. Hope you will join me down memory lane!

  1. Wow, what a depressing post. Kinda makes me want to shoot myself in the face. I just spent two hours making a cheat sheet for a final that I know I'm going to bomb anyways. sigh... Life just seemed so much nicer back then. It was such a great trip! Maybe I'll feel the same way once the semester is over and the quarter is closed out for work. Then I can let my guard down for a few days before hopping back into the fire.

    Can't wait for Jamaica, I really really need to get out of here...
