30 x 2 = 30?

Luke is lucky. He gets to celebrate his birthday twice every year. Why? Long story short, he was born on the 27th day of the first month on the Lunar calendar. Back 1978, that date corresponded to March 5th on the Gregorian calendar. Because Luke's parents keep track of important dates using the Chinese calendar, when his family came to the U.S., they put his official birth date as January 27. That is the date that I celebrate with Luke.

His parents celebrate the other date with him. Tomorrow, March 4th, is the 27th day of the first month on this year's Lunar calendar, and therefore, it's Luke's birthday again. We went to his parents' house this past weekend for another delicious meal!

Here was the spread through the eyes of Pargo. He was salivating so we gave him a few slices of beef.

The spring rolls were freshly made and piping hot. Along with thinly sliced beef, they were served over soft rice vermicelli and shredded lettuce and cilantro. So good and we took the rest home! See here for more information on Vietnamese crusine.

What I put in my tummy. Yum.

My parents helped Luke celebrate too, back in January. I never got around to post this cake Lilo got for him from Whole Foods. The top layer was sliding off a bit because my brother and Lilo put the cake in the trunk while driving home.

And finally, against my better judgment, I bought Luke a game for his PS3! It was a belated present because the game wasn't release until a week ago. Have lots of fun with it babes!

To everyone who helped making ahbow's birthday special and memorable - Thank you! Xie Xie! Merci! Danke! Grazie! Mucho Gracias!

  1. The hits just keep on coming. Oh well, being old isn't so bad. Not yet anyways. Extra years and extra pounds to go along with them. At least I got a fun game out of it all. Yes, I'm that low maintenance! Just wish I was around to play it more. Thanks Bongs!
